Peter Atencio is a television, film, and commercial director, producer, and writer based in Los Angeles. He is represented by UTA and Principato-Young Entertainment for film and television project, and Gifted Youth for advertising. He's been nominated for three prime-time Emmy awards, winning one for Best Variety Sketch series for Key & Peele in 2016. He's also won a Peabody Award and American Comedy Award for best comedy director, and has won numerous advertising industry awards including three Clio Awards. When he's not busy making unique, entertaining, and visually stunning works, he keeps himself busy by writing website profiles in the third person.
Peter's work has been viewed nearly 1.5 billion times on various video streaming service, making his work some of the most widely recognized pop culture in the world. His oeuvre includes films, television shows, advertising, and video art. After breaking through as a sketch director on the UCB series The Midnight Show, he became the director and executive producer of the hit sketch comedy show Key & Peele on Comedy Central, and transitioned with the duo to the world of feature films with 2016's KEANU, an action comedy for Warner Bros.' New Line division. More recently, he directed and executive produced the Amazon Studios original series Jean-Claude Van Johnson, alongside fellow executive producers Ridley Scott and Dave Callaham, who also wrote the show.
Currently he's developing the feature film Fraggle Rock for The Jim Henson Company and New Regency Pictures and directing and executive producing the television drama Whiskey Cavalier for Warner Bros. and the ABC network.
